Light up your Rapunzel themed party with these floating lights!
Currently we, meaning her are all things Rapunzel. So now as her third birthday is fast approaching, I created these for my daughters Rapunzel themed birthday party. It was seriously an easy, cheap way to add in some wonderful decorations to bring everything together! Because how best to complement any Rapunzel theme, but by adding in a ton of floating lights stung all over the place!
There are two lanterns per each sheet of paper. They print on standard US Letter sized papaer that measures 8- 1/2 x 11 inches. You can use regular printing paper, but I personally I used a heavier weighted paper, 80lbs> Which is more like a card stock. Wind is a factor during outside parties, so the heavier weight of the lanterns, helped them not get beat up so badly.
But if you are hosting an indoor party or occasion, typical printing paper should suffice.
There are a couple ways that you can use these…
- For floating lights you can hang each one individually, and string them all around
- For more of a “banner or bunting” type of decor, use a longer string to have them float evenly. That is how I did it.
- Also you could just use them as solo type of decor, with battery tea lights inside of them, so they GLOW.
- If you think of any other ways to use these please share, so others can use the ideas as well!
Print out as many as you would like (personal use Only!) Then use scissors to cut. Roll the paper up to create the cylinder shape and attach using tape, glue, staples or whatever you prefer.
If you are going to string them up, be sure to have a thin ribbon or string to hang them with. I used a small hole punch to create holes in the side to make it a bit easier to pull the string through them. You can purchase at any local craft store.
