Oompa Loompa Favor Boxes

Posted on

I have been wanting to create some sort of favor boxes to go along with a Willy Wonka Party, based off of the stylized version of my Oompa Loompa toppers. I have actually been wanting to start adding more favor related items, so the inspiration for this came at the sort of, kinda the right time. I still am not up and running full time and wont be for a bit cause’ you know ….kids. So it’s still always a challenge to find time to squeeze out of a day that never has enough time for me to do all the things I want to do!

I often wonder about people who complain that they are bored, I mean with all the things one can learn and do and be, who ever has time to be bored?? But that is a tangent for another day at another time.

I thought that it may be appropriate to add in a bit of a how to assemble type of post, because I would rather just write it out once than to explain it over and over again. To begin these are a digital file available for purchase through my ETSY shop. You can purchase it in the Favor Box section of my shop and it goes along with the themed Willy Wonka items in my shop also available as digital files. A digital file if you are unsure, is simply a file that you can purchase and print at home basically immediately after purchase. If you don’t have the means to print at home, no problem, you can just print through a local printer like OfficeMax/Depot, Staples, Kinkos, etc.  They always print out great and at a great price. All the info is available in each listing or I can easily be contacted through my shop if one had additional questions!

The first thing that needs to be done, obviously is that the file needs to be printed. Always print at the best print settings. To free the little Oompa Loompa and get him up and going you will need the following…

  • Card Stock 110# recommended ( Think Index Paper)
  • Sharp scissors
  • A Ruler or something with a flat edge for folding
  • Ribbon
  • Hole punch
  • Hot glue, glue dots or tape
  • Fun stuff to fill box with

Print out the image (or however many you will need.)

Before you cut, flip the paper over and make fold lines, The first one may be tricky, but after that it just goes smoothly. It is so much easier to do this before any cuts are made. And make assembling them later so much less troublesome.

After the creases are added, it’s time to free the Oompa Loompa from his little paper prison. Make a rough cut first, then go in and cut out the smaller finer parts.

Bend the box over gently to match up the tops of the favor box and use a hole punch to create a ribbon hole thorough the hair.

Fold the box so that the sides can be attached. I use hot glue, but whatever method you prefer to use is up to you. I folded the middle portion on the inside and then folded the outer flaps in.

Once it is all sealed this is the inner portion of the favor box.

Using the ribbon color and thickness of your choosing, run the ribbon through the hole in the hair. I hate making bows, it’s one of my vices,  but do it anyway!

These are the front measurements of the box. Total height is 4.34 inches, the actual favor box height is 2.46 inches. These are not huge favor boxes, but the can hold some candies and goodies. And they look super cute all lined up

The side view measurements are 2.45 inches in height 1.84 inches in width.

Such a fun way to end any Willy Wonka themed party with a unique and festive favor box. Any questions please feel free to contact me through the shop or  here.

Have a great day friends!

Batman Party Invites

Posted on

Well hey there!! thought it was time I get my butt in gear and start getting all the fun stuff I have been doing up and on the blog. My little guy turned four a few months back and we decided that we would go with a Batman theme, since you know he is four and well he likes Batman.

I always find a birthday is the best time for me to be able to design some fun themed invites for the kids.

blank-custom-batman-invite

For this invite I used an image of Batman popping out of the top of the invite and the Bat logo slightly protruding on the bottom of the invite. Each invite measured approx. 4×6, image was laser printed on 100# card stock and then die cut with a white edge border which made them pop even more.

To make sure that the party theme flowed into the actual party, these little extra cards were  mailed along with the invites asking that all Bat boys and Bat girls come to the party dressed in their  favorite Bat gear.

bat-boy-girl-imge

To make sure that no one is ever left out cupcake toppers were made using the Bat logo in both Yellow and Pink. Because more often then not, everyone fights over the colors. Why?? I don’t know, I’m not four and stubborn 🙂

batman-toppers2

For the cake instead of making an edible topper, which I have done numerous times in the past. I decided to go with a non-edible type of topper. I created a 3D layered image of a Chibi Batman holding a Personalized Balloon which was set in front of a City Background scene with the Batman Logo in the night sky.

batman-paper-topper

After seven years of birthdays for several children of my own as well as many customers, I realized that the time I put into creating an edible topper was almost silly, since it was almost always immediately tossed aside after cutting the cake. With a non-edible option I was able to give to my kiddo to have in his room afterwards. This made the time I put into designing and creating it less wasted on a moment of ooooh.

Overall the party was a huge hit, besides the fact that it rained non stop the whole day and the outside party, became an inside party bursting with people.

If you are interested in purchasing these invites please feel free to contact me through my ETSY Shop HERE to discuss options. I offer both digital print at home options as well as fully printed and cut invitations, personalized to your occasion!

Hope you enjoyed! Thanks for stopping by!

Lemonade Stand Printables (FREE)

Posted on

In this part of my neck of the woods, summer vacation will be coming to an end. In a few short weeks, I will be sending my two older girls back to school and my son to preschool for a few hours a day. This leaves me with my little one. I adore my kids and they are awesome to be around. But my goodness four kiddos coming and going for a little over two months straight at every possible angle is pushing me into a psychosis of sorts.

I feel as though I live in the kitchen, everyday is a repeat of forty thousand breakfasts, lunches, dinners and DO NOT  forget snacks. As soon as I get the kitchen clean again, it is more the norm someone is barging back in looking for a snack, a drink….whatever.

It’s exhausting, in the best possible way ever.

Alas, I CAN’T wait to school starts, not because I don’t wan’t to be around my kids, but because I miss the routine of school and the schedule of things. Too much free time gets me in a tizzy. I think they function better in a set routine as I do to. When they (Me) know what to expect, they (I) just seem better adjusted.

Anyway, I promised my oldest daughter that we would do a lemonade stand this summer. And after her asking four hundred thousand times if “today” was the day to do it, I FINALLY found some time to create some fun, lemonade stand themed designs to help “boost” their business.

Lemonade Stand

It was really a fun experience for them. They got along 70% of the time and the timing worked out perfectly, as the entire “stand” lasted as long as my littlest  guys nap! Things got more interesting and energetic as the neighborhood kids teamed up to “help” out.  I’m pretty positive that they  scared a few people with their sugared up screams of “LEMONADE.”

Thank goodness most people are good sports and stopped to buy a cup or two. The mailman  got quite a greeting as they all shoved overflowing cups of lemonade into his truck. He graciously took a cup from each of them, thanking them all profusely.

FullSizeRender

The whole shindig lasted about an hour or so and it and it made me realize that never again will I ever pass a lemonade stand and not stop and buy a cup. It seriously made their day whenever a “customer” stopped on by! But the looks of disappointment when people zoomed on by was enough for me to feel upset as they did.

Since it was such a success, I though I would share the printables, so maybe you can have some fun with your kids and make some lasting summer memories!

Realizing the reality of the situation was three little kids selling lemonade, I made some quick, fun inspired signs. I did not want to spend hours creating a set up that I thought may last only a few minutes, based upon their moods in any given moment.

I made two signs both print out on 8-1/2 x 11 sheets of paper, one is horizontal. (You can print from HERE)

Lemonade Sign Horizontal watermark

The other is vertical. (You can print from HERE)

Lemonade Sign Vertical watermark

I also included a simple bunting, just for fun. (You can print from HERE)

lemonade stand bunting water mark image
The bunting was simple to assemble, just print,  cut and attach to some ribbon or string with tape, glue or whatever stickiness you may have on hand. (And if your home is filled with kids like mine, everything is sticky.)

Lemonade Stand Bunting

The end result was better than I expected and I think it was just an overall simple, fun, filled experience for them.

Lemonade Stand banner sign and bunting

They learned a little about money (that they want it all.)

Lemonade Stand small sign

And they learned about working with each other. As much as I thought it would be just another reason for the three of them to bicker and fight. It turned out to be a sweet summer filled afternoon that will remembered by them as well as myself.

Thanks for dropping by!

Everlasting Gobstopper Cupcake Toppers

Posted on

You know what movie I LOVED as a kid???

Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory! I mean how could you not!!! A magical factory filled with quirky and fun inventions. And let’s not forget all of the fun crazy candy!! I’m sure I am not alone in this as it is my number one requested custom design.

So without further ado here is the latest addition into the shop.

Everlasting Gobstopper cupcake toppers!

Everlasting Gobstopper cupcake toppers
They were a bit of a challenge to design and I am thinking that is why it has taken me so long to actually create them, but I am so very glad that I did. They measure approx. 3 inches in height and width and are easy enough to cut. You can cut along the perforated line or right up against the edge, then just assemble by attaching onto lolly sticks or picks using tape or glue.

Everlasting gobstopper cupcake topper image

They come five to a sheet and you are able to print as many as you would like at home or through a printing service. (That’s always my pick.) An easy and fun way to add a bit more color and flavor to any Willy Wonka Themed party!

Everlasting Gobstopper image
These are available for purchase and immediate download (once payment is processed) through my Etsy shop. You can find out more information in regards to purchasing them HERE. I will be adding quite a few more items and characters relating to Willy Wonka, so please keep up to date if these are the types of party items that interest you!

And as always if you are looking for something custom, please feel free to contact me to discuss design options!!

Thanks for reading along and visiting!

Fairy Party Butterfly Dessert Spoons

Posted on

In less than three weeks my little peanut Sami Jams will be turning five. As I reflect on the past five years, I am slightly thrown off at how fast it that it really went by. Random people I would meet on line at the supermarket used to look at my frazzled, three kids in tow self and pass along their gentle words of parental wisdom, never forgetting to pat my arm and express to me to enjoy every moment; even the insane ones, because they would grow so fast. But I never realized “how” fast that really meant. So if you are unsure then know fast means ridiculously, you won’t even believe it fast.

She decided that this year she wanted a fairy type of Tinkerbell party. Now I must admit that I like to do as much as I can to make my childrens birthday’s as magical as I think chilhood should be. I want her to look back at these days as ones filled with laughter, love, joy and filled with the type of magic that kids love so much. It all began with the invitation design. I created a stylized version of Tinkerbell as I didn’t wan to get stuck using just ideas relating to the Disney version of her.

Tinkerbell party invitation 5x7 free

I am doing my best to create as many fun themed things to add to the party, beginning with these colorful butterfly dessert spoons.

Fair Party butterfly dessert spoon sparkly

I want butterflies and all things fairy sized EVERYWHERE!! These were super easy to make and work so well to bring some fun and color into a dessert table! I used  a paper punch I purchased through Amazon from Martha Stewart Crafts of a Large Monarch Butterfly. It measures approx 1 -1/2 inches.

Butterfly punch front and back

I punched out a whole lotta’ solid colors…

Punched butterflies dessert spoons

And some patterned ones too….

Patterned punched butterflies dessert spoons

The background I place them on was made with some other fun and vibrant patterned paper. To make these I used a round one inch punch from Fiskars I purchased from Amazon .

unched circles butterfly dessert spoons

The dessert spoons I used are probably the cutest things ever! I also purchased these spoons through Amazon.

mini dessert spoons

This is what you will need to make them…

  • Butterfly Punch
  • Small Round Punch
  • Miniature Dessert Spoons
  • Solid Colored Card Stock Paper
  • Patterned Card Stock Paper
  • Glue Dots or Glue Gun

Punch out all of your butterflies out of both the solid and patterned paper. Also Punch out all the circles that you will be needing. Fold the top butterfly (patterned paper) slightly in the middle so that the wings fan out.

Using a glue gun or glue dots attach it to another butterfly (solid color).

attach paterned butterfly to solid dessert spoon

And then attach it to the round punch paper…

attach buterflies to circle punch dessert spoon

Finally attach to the BACK (Flip the spoons over)of the top portion of the spoon.

Fairy Butterfly dessert spoons

So incredible easy right!!!! These are perfect place in little cups of jello, pudding, cupcakes small cookies or cakes…anything really. They just add a pop of fluttery, fun into any fairy, butterfly or Tinkerbell themed party.

Hope you enjoy and stay sweet my peeps!

A New Direction…and Some Great Changes.

Posted on

Since I met and moved in with my  once boyfriend, now husband. The house we live in has the back portion of our home converted to a semi apartment. It was originally built by my husband for  his father to live in, but since his passing, it has been used to help out a few friends get back on their feet.

But as our family as grown over so rapidly over in a few short year, we decided that as a family we needed more space. Little did I know how much my home would open up after saying buh bye to a few walls.

renovations disiguised

That’s my hubby making faces through the now disintegrated wall, I disguised him with some sunglasses and a mustache in case he doesn’t want his face plastered all over my site 🙂

At this point we are gutting and remodeling our bathroom and a spare room into our master bedroom the bathroom. I think after we finish those two projects we will take a break for a minute or two to enjoy our new designs . And then in a few years we will be renovating our old kitchen;  blowing out a back wall and joining two rooms to become one huge kitchen.

In the meantime I will use the extra space as a office/work space. Which is perfect for me, because it keep my little ones from trying to destroy play with all of my stuff. By the time we make this next renovation, I am hoping my little ones will not be so curious of my work and stop touching it .

I’m super excited to redecorate and plan all of the design work with my husband and I have been pinning a lot of bathroom and bedroom ideas, heck I’m even pinning kitchen ideas at the moment.

I am loving all of the colors that are around right now and I think I will be going with this color palette from Benjamin Moore for the paint for our bedroom.

I just love the way gray looks on the walls!

I would really love to try and figure out some new ways to upcycle some of our old furniture, because it would be nice to save some money on new furniture, but also because the challenge o creating something new from something old is always a fun and creative challenge. We have s few different style of dressers ( I know, so outdated) like the one pictured below. I would be curious to see if either my husband or myself could figure out something to make them a bit more updated and in tune with the style we now like.

As I mentioned we are also gutting an remodeling our bathroom, we are working with a narrow space, so I am always looking for ideas for smaller type of spaces. So far I have found a few like this one that I will try and draw inspiration from. For the decorating ,I love the look of two shower curtains which we also decided we would go with instead of glass doors, until my little ones are bigger. And then if we want to to switch it we will.

I will be updating the process every now and again. Now I need to let you all know  this is something so out of my comfort zone. Typically with all the choices available, I tend to get overwhelmed and I cop out and go with solid colors (black, beige, brown) and never experiment with designs,  patterns, or even color for that matter.

I have decided that for these upcoming changes I  will take on the challenge of stepping out of my boring old decorating routine and just have fun with it all!!

I’l post some before pictures soon!!! Trust when I tell you my bathroom right now is very old. We still have a seashell shaped sink.

Any one remember those!!!!

Baby Bird Nest Cookies (No Bake Haystack Cookies)

Posted on

I’m really, really, REALLY over the winter. I cannot wait to till the smells, colors and sensation of springtime begin to invade all of my sense with it’s rejuvenating essence. I am that person that complains about the cold of winter AND the sweaty in places I shouldn’t be days of summer.

I’m really not a fan of the extremes of either season. If I had it my way I would live in a climate that is eternally spring like and fall like. But since I live in NY which is none of these and am not planning on moving anytime soon, I guess I’ll have to suffer.

Whatever, either way I now that spring is almost here and in a show of good faith I though I would make something to reflect my absolute love of it. Now nothing makes me think of spring more that the incessant chitter chatter chirping that goes on in the morning and as of late it has returned, and to honor those talkative little birdies I recreated them in edible form.

So weird, right. But I hang on the left side of almost normal, pinkie swear!

No Bake Baby birdie haystack nest cookies

Baby Bird Nest Cookies

These are the some of the easiest cookies you can ever make, as they require NO baking and just a little patience. They can be tweaked with ingredients and color coordinated with any type of season.

Like little red birdies for Valentines day…get it love birds.

Or you can use green candies for St. Patrick’s Day. If you have mini marshmallows you could also make them little leprechaun hats!

And for the Christmas holiday season you could go with red and green birdies and create some mini Santa hats for them!

Chocolate Banana Bear Bites

Posted on

I have been stuck inside the house for a few days with the kids. Lots of snow and overall “not fun” slushy cold, wet weather has been happening  quite a bit lately so I am hesitant to drag three kids out of the house. With that said the kids and I have becoming more than a little stir crazy over the past few days.

I mean how many princess dress up parties, hide and seek, let’s pretend, face painting, stories and play doh can be utilized before things get….a little played out, for me anyway?

When I get in one of those it’s winter and I’m stuck in the house going crazy ruts, my mind longs to find was to express itself. Today was no exception as I was slicing bananas and getting cereal ready for the kids, my brain started piecing together the ingredients into this cutsey of a bite sized treat. I never claimed to be Georgia O’Keefe as my creativity expresses itself in “other” ways

Chocolate banana bear bites for kids

They were ridiculous easy to make as you can probably see only use a few things to make them. I’m sure if I wanted to I could make them even more elaborate and silly for the kids, but I have found simple and silly get the same surprised and thrilled reaction just to see funny little tidbits like theses whenever I included them at meal times.

This is what you will need.

  • Bananas
  • Chocolate Chips
  • Miniature Chocolate Chips or large round sprinkles
  • Cheerios or some other version of ring type of cereal.

Slice your bananas and add two cheerios to either side of the sliced banana. Add a large chocolate chip in the middle and place two miniature chocolate chips (or sprinkles) as eyes.

chocolae banana bear bites healthy treat kids

So easy and so silly, especially when you stick them on top of a stack of miniature pancakes and your kids are squealing that they have “bears” on their food 🙂 My oldest wanted to know specifically if it was “Little Bear” I told her yes, because if I didn’t it would be an hour long conversation of what bear it was, where did he live, did he have any sisters, what is his favorite color…on and on.

pancakes with mini chocolate banana bear bites

So I lied and told her yes!

Easy is the best way right  and breakfast gets eaten in a normal frame of time.

Hope you enjoy 🙂

Rapunzel Paper Lantern Printable

Posted on

If you are having a Rapunzel themed party this printable is a perfect addition to your party!!

There are two lanterns per each sheet of  paper measuring 8 1-2 x 11. You can use regular printing paper, but I highly suggest a sturdier, thick type of paper, like a card stock to help them hold there circular shape.

Cut them out, attach with tape or glue and string about to create the effect of “floating” lights at any Rapunzel party! These could also be used as a sleeve over a flickering LED light to give them a glowing effect!
