I never thought the day would come where 75% of my communication would be through smiley faces and other assorted little images. Emoji’s…love them or hate them they are here for the moment, until the net big thing comes along to utterly reduce the human language back to the age of symbolic communication.
Anyhoooooo. This is a invitation I made for a “Emoji” themed birthday party. Simple easy and sweet. It created a stir of excitement in the world of soon to be seven year olds.
As my daughter and her friends declared on the of the party. “This is EPIC!!”
I wanted to make everything fun, but also had some time restraints so I did what I could with the time I had.
Of course any Emoji party needs an Emoji Cake… Super easy and simple. Yellow sprinkles, red sprinkles and some brown M&M’s for the smile.
A selfie wall…
We laid out a bunch of photo props and the kids had a ball taking pictures…
There’s no party without snacks….like these EPIC poop emoji brownie bites, these were the hit of the party.
Decorations and more snacks.
And last but not least cupcakes…
Invitations were custom made by yours truly, you can see more of my work through my Etsy shop MightyDelighty. Any questions, please feel free to contact me.
There are so many fun, exciting and colorful toys around these days. So many that it completely sends my daughter into overdrive, as she just wants all the toys. Specifically doll like toys, she particularly loves little figurine dolls that she can play with in her dollhouse. I swear she could entertain herself for hours playing in her room.
The “item” for her now is the Lalaloospy dolls, she loves the little ones that you can dress and undress and switch the clothing around with the other dolls. So I knew that at some point when discussing her birthday, he would request a Lalaloospy themed birthday.
I long for the days I had more time to design and execute little birthday parties with all the fun decorations. But with four kids, I make an invitation for each, custom cupcakes and cake and do my best to try and throw up a few decorations. The ideas I have in my head are big, bold and wonderful. But the hours in a day, do not allow me to put those ideas into form…not yet anyway.
Back to Lalaloospy. My girls favorite character is Jewels Sparkles, she loves her because she has a tiara. I’m sure there are more reasons, but for now that is what she is going with.
I design the invitation to fit into a 4×6 sized envelope. I oversized the character so that part of her is off the actual invitation. From there I offset the invitations with a white border and die-cut them. She loves them.
I also made custom address labels, which I do not have pictures of (sorry) but they essentially matched the invitations.
I think they look like such a fun invitation to open.
Hope you enjoyed! Any questions, please feel free to contact me or visit my Etsy shop to see more of my other fun creations!
I have been wanting to create some sort of favor boxes to go along with a Willy Wonka Party, based off of the stylized version of my Oompa Loompa toppers. I have actually been wanting to start adding more favor related items, so the inspiration for this came at the sort of, kinda the right time. I still am not up and running full time and wont be for a bit cause’ you know ….kids. So it’s still always a challenge to find time to squeeze out of a day that never has enough time for me to do all the things I want to do!
I often wonder about people who complain that they are bored, I mean with all the things one can learn and do and be, who ever has time to be bored?? But that is a tangent for another day at another time.
I thought that it may be appropriate to add in a bit of a how to assemble type of post, because I would rather just write it out once than to explain it over and over again. To begin these are a digital file available for purchase through my ETSY shop. You can purchase it in the Favor Box section of my shop and it goes along with the themed Willy Wonka items in my shop also available as digital files. A digital file if you are unsure, is simply a file that you can purchase and print at home basically immediately after purchase. If you don’t have the means to print at home, no problem, you can just print through a local printer like OfficeMax/Depot, Staples, Kinkos, etc. They always print out great and at a great price. All the info is available in each listing or I can easily be contacted through my shop if one had additional questions!
The first thing that needs to be done, obviously is that the file needs to be printed. Always print at the best print settings. To free the little Oompa Loompa and get him up and going you will need the following…
Card Stock 110# recommended ( Think Index Paper)
A Ruler or something with a flat edge for folding
Hot glue, glue dots or tape
Fun stuff to fill box with
Print out the image (or however many you will need.)
Before you cut, flip the paper over and make fold lines, The first one may be tricky, but after that it just goes smoothly. It is so much easier to do this before any cuts are made. And make assembling them later so much less troublesome.
After the creases are added, it’s time to free the Oompa Loompa from his little paper prison. Make a rough cut first, then go in and cut out the smaller finer parts.
Bend the box over gently to match up the tops of the favor box and use a hole punch to create a ribbon hole thorough the hair.
Fold the box so that the sides can be attached. I use hot glue, but whatever method you prefer to use is up to you. I folded the middle portion on the inside and then folded the outer flaps in.
Once it is all sealed this is the inner portion of the favor box.
Using the ribbon color and thickness of your choosing, run the ribbon through the hole in the hair. I hate making bows, it’s one of my vices, but do it anyway!
These are the front measurements of the box. Total height is 4.34 inches, the actual favor box height is 2.46 inches. These are not huge favor boxes, but the can hold some candies and goodies. And they look super cute all lined up
The side view measurements are 2.45 inches in height 1.84 inches in width.
Such a fun way to end any Willy Wonka themed party with a unique and festive favor box. Any questions please feel free to contact me through the shop or here.
Well hey there!! thought it was time I get my butt in gear and start getting all the fun stuff I have been doing up and on the blog. My little guy turned four a few months back and we decided that we would go with a Batman theme, since you know he is four and well he likes Batman.
I always find a birthday is the best time for me to be able to design some fun themed invites for the kids.
For this invite I used an image of Batman popping out of the top of the invite and the Bat logo slightly protruding on the bottom of the invite. Each invite measured approx. 4×6, image was laser printed on 100# card stock and then die cut with a white edge border which made them pop even more.
To make sure that the party theme flowed into the actual party, these little extra cards were mailed along with the invites asking that all Bat boys and Bat girls come to the party dressed in their favorite Bat gear.
To make sure that no one is ever left out cupcake toppers were made using the Bat logo in both Yellow and Pink. Because more often then not, everyone fights over the colors. Why?? I don’t know, I’m not four and stubborn 🙂
For the cake instead of making an edible topper, which I have done numerous times in the past. I decided to go with a non-edible type of topper. I created a 3D layered image of a Chibi Batman holding a Personalized Balloon which was set in front of a City Background scene with the Batman Logo in the night sky.
After seven years of birthdays for several children of my own as well as many customers, I realized that the time I put into creating an edible topper was almost silly, since it was almost always immediately tossed aside after cutting the cake. With a non-edible option I was able to give to my kiddo to have in his room afterwards. This made the time I put into designing and creating it less wasted on a moment of ooooh.
Overall the party was a huge hit, besides the fact that it rained non stop the whole day and the outside party, became an inside party bursting with people.
If you are interested in purchasing these invites please feel free to contact me through my ETSY Shop HERE to discuss options. I offer both digital print at home options as well as fully printed and cut invitations, personalized to your occasion!
In this part of my neck of the woods, summer vacation will be coming to an end. In a few short weeks, I will be sending my two older girls back to school and my son to preschool for a few hours a day. This leaves me with my little one. I adore my kids and they are awesome to be around. But my goodness four kiddos coming and going for a little over two months straight at every possible angle is pushing me into a psychosis of sorts.
I feel as though I live in the kitchen, everyday is a repeat of forty thousand breakfasts, lunches, dinners and DO NOT forget snacks. As soon as I get the kitchen clean again, it is more the norm someone is barging back in looking for a snack, a drink….whatever.
It’s exhausting, in the best possible way ever.
Alas, I CAN’T wait to school starts, not because I don’t wan’t to be around my kids, but because I miss the routine of school and the schedule of things. Too much free time gets me in a tizzy. I think they function better in a set routine as I do to. When they (Me) know what to expect, they (I) just seem better adjusted.
Anyway, I promised my oldest daughter that we would do a lemonade stand this summer. And after her asking four hundred thousand times if “today” was the day to do it, I FINALLY found some time to create some fun, lemonade stand themed designs to help “boost” their business.
It was really a fun experience for them. They got along 70% of the time and the timing worked out perfectly, as the entire “stand” lasted as long as my littlest guys nap! Things got more interesting and energetic as the neighborhood kids teamed up to “help” out. I’m pretty positive that they scared a few people with their sugared up screams of “LEMONADE.”
Thank goodness most people are good sports and stopped to buy a cup or two. The mailman got quite a greeting as they all shoved overflowing cups of lemonade into his truck. He graciously took a cup from each of them, thanking them all profusely.
The whole shindig lasted about an hour or so and it and it made me realize that never again will I ever pass a lemonade stand and not stop and buy a cup. It seriously made their day whenever a “customer” stopped on by! But the looks of disappointment when people zoomed on by was enough for me to feel upset as they did.
Since it was such a success, I though I would share the printables, so maybe you can have some fun with your kids and make some lasting summer memories!
Realizing the reality of the situation was three little kids selling lemonade, I made some quick, fun inspired signs. I did not want to spend hours creating a set up that I thought may last only a few minutes, based upon their moods in any given moment.
The bunting was simple to assemble, just print, cut and attach to some ribbon or string with tape, glue or whatever stickiness you may have on hand. (And if your home is filled with kids like mine, everything is sticky.)
The end result was better than I expected and I think it was just an overall simple, fun, filled experience for them.
They learned a little about money (that they want it all.)
And they learned about working with each other. As much as I thought it would be just another reason for the three of them to bicker and fight. It turned out to be a sweet summer filled afternoon that will remembered by them as well as myself.
Hey there strangers! Miss me??? I am hoping that by this Fall 2016, I will be up and posting a bit more on the regular. If I have not mentioned it before, which I am sure I have a million times; four kids ages 7 and under does not leave much time for anything else but chasing them and cleaning up in the wake of their messes.
With that said, 3 out of four will be in school come this fall, which means a bit more time to get back into the studio and more time available for designing. I have decided that I am going to start shipping some items, now that I have an ounce more of time, I can start to work from home again and I want to be able to offer more options. Starting with these little guys.
My Oompa Loompa Toppers.
Starting now I will be able to ship them domestically fully assembled. In time I will offer international shipping but for now, these will only travel in the U.S.A.
They measure out to be a tad bit smaller then 3 inches in diameter, not including the stick.
These are such a great addition to any Willy Wonka themed party or event. I will slowly be adding in all of the wonderful themed items to be available assembled and shipped, but for now just these little guys will be doing the traveling.
It has been more than a while since I have been able to get in my studio and create a new custom item Four kids have that effect, most days I’m lucky to get the morning breakfast dishes done by the time the girls get home from school.
So my little Etsy shop has suffered a bit from neglect of new inspiration and products. But after the first 14-15 months of baby number four, I am finding small nuggets of time to start some new things. I am hoping that by Fall of 2016 I will be up and running on at least a consistent part time basis again.
But I digress, this is the most recent custom invitation I pulled out of the swarm of ideas swimming inside my mind!
Super Sami Birthday invites.
I did my typical design aspect of having part of the character set off from the invitation. And I did not have to cut these by hand now that I have a better working knowledge of my Silhouette. It does all the harder work and gives hem a flawless cut!
Obviously I fogged out the more personal details, but you get the idea!! Good to be back here, even if only for a short moment!!
There are three versions; a red striped, blue striped and yellow with white polka dots.
I also created a few versions with the famous apple with three different patterns. A red striped, blue striped and a yellow with white polka dots. All to coordinate with the snow white image.
On the back of each wrapper is “Happy Birthday” that if need be can be personalized, just contact me to discuss.
These can be purchased through my Etsy shop HERE. They print out on a standard size sheet of 8 1/2 x 11 paper and can be printed at home or uploaded and printed through a local print shop. The files is available in PDF form that print out on three separate sheets of paper, print as many as you like!
These work great as favors, such as thank you’s. But they can also be cutomized to be used as actual invitations or just personalized any way you would like. If interested please contact me to discuss!
Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory! I mean how could you not!!! A magical factory filled with quirky and fun inventions. And let’s not forget all of the fun crazy candy!! I’m sure I am not alone in this as it is my number one requested custom design.
So without further ado here is the latest addition into the shop.
Everlasting Gobstopper cupcake toppers!
They were a bit of a challenge to design and I am thinking that is why it has taken me so long to actually create them, but I am so very glad that I did. They measure approx. 3 inches in height and width and are easy enough to cut. You can cut along the perforated line or right up against the edge, then just assemble by attaching onto lolly sticks or picks using tape or glue.
They come five to a sheet and you are able to print as many as you would like at home or through a printing service. (That’s always my pick.) An easy and fun way to add a bit more color and flavor to any Willy Wonka Themed party!
These are available for purchase and immediate download (once payment is processed) through my Etsy shop. You can find out more information in regards to purchasing them HERE. I will be adding quite a few more items and characters relating to Willy Wonka, so please keep up to date if these are the types of party items that interest you!
And as always if you are looking for something custom, please feel free to contact me to discuss design options!!
Schools out!!!! Well preschools out over in these parts anyway. And what better way to kick off summer the with some ICE CREAM, but a less messy version. Because let’s face it, kids and ice cream are inevitable a recipe for a sticky, mess.
I use these for the end of the year ice cream parties that my daughter’s pre-school host as a thank you and see ya later, have a great summer type of treat!
I will be offering them as a free printable for a limited time only(Free until July 5th 2014.) After then they can be purchased through my Etsy shop. These are fun and a festive way to add a little something extra to a cupcake to turn them into something more!! Use them for parties holidays or any other fun inspired occasion. They print out on a standard sheet of 8-1/2×11 sheet of paper. All you need to do it print, cut and assemble using glue or tape. These should be wrapped around already baked cupcakes 🙂 Then decorate your cupcakes accordingly!!
They are always a big hit and can be dressed up as much as you like. For a limited time you can download the ice cream cone version here. ( If download is disabled, you can purchase through my Etsy Shop)
